More good news! (Saner heads prevail...Part 2)

By Brian Kopp

Once again, RorateCaeli has the latest developments:

Castrillón satisfied with SSPX answer
SSPX will give heed to the five points

From the blog of Andrea Tornielli (Vatican correspondent for Il Giornale):
I have learned from secure sources that, contrary to what has appeared in certain articles, the response of the Fraternity [of Saint Pius X - FSSPX/SSPX] to the letter of Cardinal Castrillón has not in fact been negative. The Cardinal is satisfied with it, has responded to Fellay, and has promptly delivered the letter of the Fraternity to Benedict XVI. After the deadline of the end of June, the Lefebvrists [sic] ask for time but - it seems - they will respect the five points.

(Bishop Fellay says the SSPX will respect the five points!!! I sincerely hope the more extreme elements among the SSPX supporters have lots of duct tape...wouldn't want their heads to explode with all these positive developments on the part of Bishop Fellay ;-)

Perhaps Bp. Fellay sees the writing on the wall with the Transalpine Redemptorists returning and the Anglicans putting on their swimsuits...

Tornielli should include himself in referring to contrary and incorrect reports. He has misreported this entire affair from the beginning. So far, everything I have predicted has turned out to be correct, with one major exception. I was expecting a withdrawal of the 1988 declarations by today. It looks as if it will not come today. It is now evening in Rome.

It still might come on Monday, the anniversary of S.P. That was the latest day I had predicted. I wish this were over. My knees are worn out in prayer.

I point out to bloggers that today is the important Feast of the Visitation. In the Most Holy Rosary of Our Lady, it is the commemoration of the Mystery of Charity. The five points of the Cardinal spoke of proportional responses to the Pope's generosity. Generosity is a species of charity. The Pope is leaving for Castel Gandolfo today. He could have signed a decree today before he left, to be published tomorrow. Keep praying.

The anniversaries for 1988 have come and gone, bloggers. However, there still is one left. Monday is the first anniversary of "Summorum Pontificum". It would be a significant date for a withdrawal of the penalties in accordance with the Society's two pre-conditions for talks. Please keep praying.
