Fr. Fessio comments on the Motu Proprio

By Patrick Archbold

New Liturgical Movement has this quote from Fr. Fessio:

"I believe that this is going to be a major step toward the genuine renewal of the Mass, and therefore the genuine renewal of the Church, which the Council so ardently desired, and I think we are going to owe a great debt to Pope Benedict for doing this."

Indeed.

This Motu Proprio is a mile stone in the life of the church. In Malta many collegiate churches yearned for this, and now we can proudly state that in St Helen's collegiate Bazilika which is the most senior collegiate church can celebrate with ease according to this document without being ridiculed by priests who thought that by being modern they discarded any roman style of celebration . Thanks to his Holiness Pope Benedict many faithfull shall once again participate and experience the beauty of Roman liturgy.
